Pennsylvania Anthracite Coal Miners: Self-Representation and Memorialization
The project focuses on monuments that depict representations of coal miners and their heritage throughout different PA anthracite regions, illustrating how this important heritage is depicted and its impact on the public memory of a town. Through this project, I hope to answer the questions: "How do specific towns in the Pennsylvania anthracite coal region choose to represent a significant part of their heritage?" and "What representations of coal miners could be similarly constructed in Shamokin, PA?" Through archiving materials on the monuments, I created a digital database of the ten monuments and analyzed their symbology and significance to the anthracite region.

LGBTQ+ Representation in Cinema
Since the birth of the motion picture industry, the accurate and proportionate representation of minorities living in the United States has been an issue. Only recently have films begun incorporating characters that have non-binary identities on a grander scale. The genesis of this project was to create a place where members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community could discuss the amount of representation in cinema with accurate data on the total box office gross between 12 motion picture studios and case studies that dive deeper into topics that are either represented in cinema or surround cinema itself. These topics range from LGTBQ+ identities among people of color to authenticity when representing LGBTQ+ characters in cinema.

Behind Hockey’s Stars: A Statistical Analysis of Critical Hockey Team Metrics
The NHL has been in existence for 99 years, but the game of hockey is changing. The integration of advanced analytics is permanently altering the standards to which NHL teams are held. This project is dedicated to explaining the regular season success of NHL teams by team metrics. Can a NHL team's regular season success be predicted by team performance metrics? Can a model be created to assess the future success of a franchise by their current performance levels? If certain concrete goals are reached, is a team guaranteed a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? This project models a number of NHL team metrics to predict regular season success. An interactive model which can be used to predict team success is also presented.

China’s Internet Wave
Internet use has been rapidly increasing over the past decade and China is no exception. In 2006, China’s internet penetration rate stood at 10.5% (6.2 percentage points below global average) and by 2016, this number shot up to 53.2% (6.8 percentage points above global average). This project explores the extent to which different provinces in China experience the change brought about by a growth in internet use and its social implications, specifically focusing on China’s rural-urban migration. This project also looks into three case studies of the most significant internet companies that dominate their individual sectors in China.
